The deadline of online matriculation is August 30, 12:00 (noon), but we recommend you register for your obligatory classes by August 24, 08:00. You need to do this because there will be higher year students who will also be taking these classes, and from this date, they can take spaces in your study groups.

You can see in the deadlines that electives can be dropped until the Wednesday of the first education week. So if you find out that they do not fit into your timetable after all, you can still drop them.

IMPORTANT! During course registration, cross-check your timetable in Neptun with the curriculum (General Medicine, Dentistry and Biotechnology MSc; Pharmacy and Biotechnology BSc), to make sure you registered for every class you need successfully, and that you are in your own group for every type of class (lecture, seminar, practice).

After the two weeks registration period, you will have an instruction period of 14 weeks (September 2 – December 6), followed by the 7 weeks of exam period (December 9 – January 24).

The timetable will be available on the website of the Registrar’s Office on August 14:
General Medicine, Dentistry, Biotechnology Msc
Pharmacy, Biotechnology BSc

The timetables contain the schedule for all obligatory classes:

  • lectures for your year are in bold,
  • small group practices and seminars are in columns based on study group.

The timetables also contain the room code for the obligatory classes, which you can find using the map of the POTE+ application. The application is available for both iOS and Android devices.

After matriculation, you will all be added to a study group, named

  • A1-A12 for General Medicine,
  • S1-S3 for Dentistry,
  • P1-P3 for Pharmacy.

You can check your study group in Neptun: Studies ► Training data ►Study group.
There are no groups in Biotechnology, students in the same year share all classes.

You will have to register for your obligatory classes according to the group you are in (more information about course registration in the “Subjects” menu), so there is no need to worry about the schedule of these since it is already established.

When there is a gap in your schedule between your obligatory classes, you can sign up for elective and optional courses. In Neptun, you can find the date and place for these. If it isn't listed, you can indicate your interest by enrolling in the class, which will allow the teacher to inform the class through a Neptun message before the subject-dropping deadline.

Microsoft Teams is an important platform for communication with teachers, for which your Microsoft O365 account will be activated in 48 hours after you matriculate. Details about the account are available here.

Important deadlines:
August 15, 9:00 - August 28, 24:00 - Registration and dropping obligatory courses
August 15, 9:00 - September 6, 24:00 - Registering for criterion requirements
August 15, 9:00 - September 4, 24:00 - Dropping criterion requirements
August 26, 9:00 - September 6, 24:00 - Registration for elective and optional courses
August 26, 9:00 - September 4, 24:00 - Dropping elective and optional courses

TYPE OF COURSES

Obligatory subject:
These are subjects everyone in the program must complete. The study material builds on each other, therefore all subjects are connected to specific semesters (curriculums: General Medicine, Dentistry, Biotechnology MSc; Pharmacy and Biotechnology BSc) (e.g. „Biophysics 1”).
If you cannot complete an obligatory subject on the first try, some of them can be taken up as an exam course the next semester. An exam course means that there are no classes for the subject, just an exam during the exam period.
Criterion requirements:
Obligatory subjects that do not have credit value, (e.g. „Physical education”, „First aid”). You have to complete 4 semesters of Physical education until the start of the 6th year (fifth year for dentistry and pharmacy, and there is no mandatory physical education for biotechnology MSc).
Electives:
Subjects more closely related to the theme of the training, you can choose from a predefined list in Neptun (e.g. „The basics of biophysics”).
Optional subjects:
Subjects loosely related to the theme of the training, you can choose from a predefined list in Neptun (e.g. „CSI: Hungary”).

You need to complete a predetermined number of elective and optional credits by the end of your studies. You can find more information about the credit system in the following.

PotePath: A new feature in the General Medicine training is that the Faculty had categorized the elective and optional subjects, making it hopefully easier for the students to find their desired future careers in the medical field. If a student passes at least 60% of the required number of all their elective and optional subjects within the same category, in addition to the diploma, the Faculty may (if the student requests so) issue a certificate about this achievement as well upon graduation. Such an additional document may prove useful when the students select their future careers within the medical field. Further information about this may be found here.

One subject may have multiple courses attached, this means different formats of the same subject (lecture, seminar, practice). Especially for obligatory subjects, double-check in Neptun that you are registered for both the lecture, and the appropriate study group seminar or practice as well.

You can find a video guide for course registration here.

The T0 group opens only on the last two days of the registration period (August 27-28) for obligatory subjects as a temporary technical group for students who:

  • do not fit into their own study group (very rare) and they are still discussing getting added with the course director,

So most of the times, you can ignore this group.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

It is possible to fill out feedback questionnaires in Neptun after each exam period. If all of them are completed in a given semester, we can register to our exams one day earlier than our fellow students in the next semester.

POTEcho allows the feedback to take place during the semester, immediately after the lessons, thus helping the communication between the lecturers and the students, as well as the development of our own education. The interface is available in the browser, but can also be downloaded for iOS and Android devices.

The main guides for studying will be the materials handed out by departments (PPTs, summaries, official notes) and textbooks.

There is equipment you will need in the instruction period already. The personal equipment (notebooks, tablet, etc.) is up to you, but everyone has to get a labcoat and protective glasses. You will be able to order a labcoat during the freshman camp, and you can also do this in the first weeks of the instruction period.

Official course descriptions:
You can find them in the Course Finder. If you type the name of the course into the search bar, you can find the suggested readings on the page of the subject.

Official study materials:
The PotePedia is the official study material archive of the Medical School. It contains all the PPT-s, notes and supplemental materials necessary. If you download them, you can even prepare for classes beforehand. You will need your Neptun code and password to log in.

Buying notes and textbooks:
Students of POTE – Thrift Shop
Students of POTE – Book Bazaar
Pekár Mihály Medical and Physiology Library, main building, 3rd floor
Medicina Bookshop in the basement

You also have the opportunity to take part in the workshop of the Student Council, where they will talk about the hardships of semester start and study materials.

POTE+
A three-dimensional campus map with the locations of classes, the weekly schedule, a faculty news feed and a forum on the most important topics affecting the Pécs medical community are also available with the help of the customizable POTE+. The application is available for both iOS and Android devices.

POTEcho
While the student feedback conducted in Neptun takes place at the end of the semesters, POTEcho allows this to happen during the semester, right after the classes. Its purpose is to promote communication between university lecturers and students, supporting our education and its development. The interface is available in the browser, but can also be downloaded for iOS and Android devices.

Amboss
It is a medical platform for developing online course materials whose main purpose is to effectively help our students acquire knowledge and contribute to successful exams. It is a perfectly structured encyclopedia that provides up-to-date information on any medical subject in seconds. To activate the faculty licence, please visit this site.
